Spotlight on the MA 10th Congressional District

Primary Date:
Saturday, August 14, 2010
Massachusetts' 10th Congressional District, the most populous district in MA, includes portions of the South Shore; and all of Cape Cod and islands. Democrat Bill Delahunt, representative since 1997, is retiring at the end of this term. Because of Scott Brown’s successful bid to win the seat held by the late Edward Kennedy, Republicans smell an opportunity to be competitive in this Democrat leaning open seat. Several solid Republican candidates are on the primary ballot. Ex-State Treasurer Joe Malone is supported by party leaders, but Scott Brown has endorsed State Rep. Jeff Perry. Democrats also sport a crowded primary field.
